Program Management

September 12 - 13, 2008 @ Bangalore, INDIA

Course Overview

More and more organizations are using program management approach to introduce business changes for alignment with the strategic direction thereby having better chance of realization of strategic goals. The standard for Program Management defines the program management as the centralized coordinated management of a program to achieve the program’s specific objectives and benefits. Program Management operates at a higher organization level, with a broader scope and involves the coordinating of multiple projects to achieve certain beneficial outcomes.

Although program management and project management appear similar, there are a few differences between the two. Program manager requires a refined set of business and leadership skills that are vastly different from that of a project manager. An effective program manager generally requires a good grounding in project management. To many project managers, program management is the next logical step in the career progression.
