Project Portfolio management is now becoming increasingly important due to the impact on business, the complexities and interdependencies in enterprise IT. PPM is a strategic practice and provides value by addressing tactical and strategic decisions across high impact and lower impact projects and IT portfolios by bringing the business strategic perspective in focus.

Project planning and project management focus on addressing the needs of individual projects, however by embedding it into an enterprise plateau with PPM provides — increased value to both the project managers and the business to understand key areas such as:

  • Maximize Value through efficient delivery and governance
  • Balance the Portfolio
  • Aligning Projects With Organizational Strategy
  • Resource Management and Planning — Derive value through associating the right resources to the projects based on strategic value derived
  • Ability to measure TCO on projects delivered and applications being used.

The focus here, is on the ability to derive value from individual projects as well from the whole.
