PANEL DISCUSSION

Managing Globally Distributed IT Projects – the balancing act

Abstract: With the global distributed nature of IT projects there are multiple dimensions to balance: Customers are distributed in different geographies; there are different Technologies that need to be brought together to provide solutions to Customers; There are different Industry Domains that need to be addressed to understand Customers’ business problems; But the talent pools for these Industry Domain & Technology Practices are not available in one place‚ they are distributed in different locations.

The challenge for Project/Program Management is on how to balance these variabilities and integrate them to provide a unified solution to Customers. Is there a silver bullet? Is there any combination of aligning to one dimension over the other‚ that has better advantage?
